What subjects do you offer?
We have a fleet of teachers ready to help you in just about any subject in grades 7-12, including Test Prep (ACT, PSAT, SAT, SSAT, and SAT II). For more information, click here.

You claim to hire only experienced teachers. What does that mean, exactly?
Our fleet of talented teachers has an average of 7.4 years of teaching experience. Many online tutoring services hire undergraduate or graduate students, or outsource their tutors. So while some of their tutors may be knowledgeable in their particular subjects, they may not be good educators. Our tutors encompass the best of both worlds: they are experts in their particular subjects AND they’re excellent educators.

What sort of features and educational tools does your learning interface have?
Our learning interface has Video and Audio messaging, File Sharing, Instant Messaging, Interactive Whiteboard (which includes both document and screen sharing features), and a Notes feature for outlining sessions.

When are your tutors available?
Our tutors are available from 7am to 1am EST, 7 days a week, not including major holidays.

How do I schedule a tutoring session?
It’s simple. Just click the “Sign-Up” button on our homepage, fill out a few brief forms, and purchase session credits. In the sign-up process you’ll tell us what subject and what time you'd like to meet with a tutor; we’ll select a tutor best suited to your needs and send you an email to confirm the date and time of your tutoring session.

What is a session credit?
A session credit is a unit of purchase good for a one-hour (60 minute) tutoring session. Once purchased, session credits are non-refundable.

How many session credits should I purchase?
You can purchase as many session credits as you’d like. We advise you not to purchase more session credits than you can use within a six- to twelve-month period. If you run out of credits, you can always purchase more.

Do session credits expire?
Yes, session credits expire exactly one year after the date of purchase. When your session credits expire, you forfeit the dollar amount of those credits. As stated above, we advise you not to purchase more session credits than you can use within a six- to twelve-month period.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the major credit cards: Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. You must have the permission of a parent or guardian before making payment.

When is my credit card charged?
We charge the payee’s credit card immediately upon the purchase of session credits. All sales are final.

How long is a tutoring session?
A typical session on Tutor Tango is one hour (60 minutes). Longer sessions can be arranged.

What if I need to meet with a tutor for less than an hour?
The minimum purchase is one session credit, which is good for up to one hour of tutoring instruction. You may end your session at any time before then without incurring additional costs.

What if I need to cancel a session?
You may cancel and reschedule a tutoring session by following a simple link on your dashboard.

If you cancel a session at least 24 hour in advance, a session credit will NOT be deducted from your account, and you may reschedule. If you cancel under 24 hours in advance of your session, one session credit will be deducted from your account. Sorry, no exceptions.

In the event that you sign up for a tutoring session under 24 hours in advance, you may not cancel or reschedule. One session credit will be deducted from your account.

What if my tutor cancels a session?
Our tutors do their best to avoid cancelling. But in the event that your scheduled tutor is unable to meet with you, we will find another qualified tutor to work with you, OR you can choose to reschedule your session.

How do I communicate with my tutor? How do they communicate with me?
In our sign-up process, you’ll have the chance to direct a message about your specific learning needs to the tutor. You’ll also be able to share information regarding the book(s) and/or textbook(s) you’d like to use, and you can even upload any scanned documents that you’d like the tutor to see ahead of time.

Once you’ve signed up and purchased credit for your session, we’ll send you an email that includes your tutor’s email address. You may not contact your tutor to cancel or reschedule a tutoring session or for any purpose other than to communicate your specific academic needs regarding an upcoming tutoring session.

What if I’m not satisfied with my tutoring session?
Your feedback and input is very important to us. Just click the “Session Feedback” button on your personal dashboard to tell us about your experience and someone on our staff will get back to you a.s.a.p.

What materials/equipment/software do I need for my tutoring session?
All you need is a computer with a webcam and a stable, high-speed Internet connection. Our interface works best if you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer before the first session.

How do I meet with my tutor at the scheduled time?
Go to tutortango.com and log in using the username and password you created when you registered. Once logged in, you'll automatically be directed to your personal dashboard. Find the date and time of your next session on the right and click the "Join Session" button below it. That's it.

Where should I meet my tutor?
One of the greatest things about Tutor Tango is that it’s all online, so you can meet your tutor wherever it’s convenient for you as long as it’s a quiet and undisturbed location conducive to learning.

What sort of Internet connection do I need?
We recommend utilizing a direct connection, such as an ethernet cable, to avoid Wifi/router-related problems.

If you’re working on an unplugged laptop or tablet, make sure that you have sufficient battery power and/or a back-up battery before the session begins.

What is your Pro Bono program?
We believe that ANY student who needs instructional help should have it, even if that student doesn’t have the financial means to access a private tutor. We are collaborating with several non-profit educational organizations to reach out to students in academic need and provide them with instructional help free of charge. So each time you purchase a session credit, you’re helping us help a student in need!
